Peaceful protest in Tultitlán for street change

Neighbors of the municipality of Tultitlán, belonging to the "Fourth Transformation" colony, have carried out roadblocks on the morning of Friday, February 7. These actions are due to dissatisfaction with the City Council regarding the renaming of streets in support of projects and initiatives of the Morena party.

Despite having obtained an injunction on January 24 that suspended the name changes of the streets and colonies, the protests continue. The neighbors have expressed their discontent not only for the name changes like "Colonia Cuarta Transformación" and streets like "Becas Benito Juárez", but also for the demolition of homes and the lack of a police operation in Tultitlán similar to the "Operativo Enjambre" against government authorities.

In the peaceful demonstration led by the residents of the colony, they demanded compliance with agreements made with the Director of Government of the State of Mexico, residing in Cuautitlán Izcalli. The roadblocks began at the Mexico-Querétaro toll booth, subsequently extending to other roadways such as the Tlalnepantla-Cuautitlán highway and the José López Portillo Road, generating long lines of stopped vehicles.

Participants in the protests have been seen carrying signs with names of streets, visibly showing their discontent. Although the actions at the toll booth stopped around 10:00 AM, traffic remained affected on the Mexico-Querétaro highway in both directions, as well as on adjacent routes such as the intersection with Avenida José María Morelos and the Cuautitlán-Teoloyucan road.

Residents of the "Fourth Transformation" colony have sought to draw attention to their concerns through these roadblocks, looking for a solution to their demands amid disagreement with municipal decisions. The announcement prior to the demonstrations was disseminated on social media to inform about the actions they would take in response to what they consider unfair decisions by local authorities.
