The aviation policy in Mexico is undergoing significant changes. Despite the opening of new airports under government management, the only one that has been successful so far is Tulum. As there have been no reforms in aviation policy since 2001, the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) is working on a new design. This renovation is expected to improve infrastructure, strengthen services, provide training to personnel, and promote the use of renewable energies and sustainable fuels.
The estimated investment in airport infrastructure stands at 117 billion 575 million pesos, coming from both the federal government and private airport groups. Significant changes in this sector are expected in the coming months to improve connectivity and ensure the operability of airports.
In another area, the participation of women in Afores remains limited in management positions. Although there are notable cases, such as Marinieves Lanzagorta, vice president at Amafore, no woman has yet been registered as general director in any Afore. The importance of continuing to work towards greater female representation in leadership positions in this sector is emphasized.
On another note, a new project is on the horizon in the banking sector: the transformation of gas stations into banking correspondents. Grupo Omni, led by Moisés Chávez, along with Bankaool, headed by Juan Antonio Pérez Simón, aims to convert gas stations into banking operation points. This project would allow deposits and withdrawals through service station attendants, providing greater convenience and accessibility for users.
In a legal context, the Court will review an amparo presented by Bank of America against a fine imposed by the Federal Commission of Economic Competition (Cofece) in the debt securities market issued by the Mexican government. This case, which involves several banks and traders, has been the subject of investigation and sanctions for monopolistic practices. The resolution of this amparo will be key to the future of the financial sector in Mexico.
