The Attorney General's Office of Michoacán (FGE) reported that it has opened an investigation into an armed attack against the administrator of the informational page 'Patrullando tu colonia,' who was injured, along with a 17-year-old teenager, on Saturday afternoon in the municipality of Uruapan. The institution informed that shortly before 6:00 p.m., the Regional Prosecutor's Office received a report on the hospital admission of the communicator, identified as Antonio C., and the minor, both with injuries caused by a firearm projectile. According to collected testimonies, the attack occurred on Fray Juan de San Miguel Street, at the corner with the Ring Road, in the La Quinta neighborhood. At that point, the journalist was attacked by armed individuals, while the teenager was passing through the area at the time of the events and was also injured. Following the attack, both victims received assistance and were transported to a city hospital to receive specialized medical care. The Prosecutor's Office specified that, as this is an attack against a communicator, the Protocol for Action and Investigation of Crimes Committed against Human Rights Defenders and Journalists was activated. It was also reported that as part of these actions, measures of protection for the victims were ordered. The FGE stated that investigations continue with the aim of clarifying the facts and determining responsibilities. Moments before the attack, the journalist had made criticisms about the operation of the 911 emergency services and mentioned delays in responding to citizen complaints.
