Uruapan Mayor Grecia Quiroz Considers Run for Michoacán Governorship

The municipal president of Uruapan, Grecia Quiroz, took a significant step in her political career by openly discussing the possibility of running for the governorship of Michoacán in the 2027 elections. In a message released this Wednesday, Quiroz stated that she would only consider participating if there is a genuine commitment to transforming the state. She indicated that she would face a “very corrupt system” if she were to register as a candidate. The mayor emphasized that she would accept the challenge of running only if a true change in Michoacán is guaranteed, avoiding the problems that have marked the state's political history. She also stated that her participation would be conditional on the possibility of governing “always on the side of the people,” stressing that she prefers not to run if a profound transformation is not assured.
