The controversy over the name of the Gulf of Mexico continues. This Sunday, President Claudia Sheinbaum brought up the topic during her visit to Veracruz, from where, along with the attendees, they sent a message to Donald Trump. In the midst of the speech she was delivering, the president referred to the Gulf and asked the attendees what the name of that maritime area, which includes Veracruz, was. In unison, the people of Veracruz responded that it is called 'Gulf of Mexico', and not of America, as the U.S. president intends to change its name.

During her visit to Tihuatlán and the Escolin Petrochemical Complex in Poza Rica, Veracruz, President Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated that during her administration, the country's petrochemical industry will be rescued. “Our goal was initiated by the best president of Mexico, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, he began the rescue of Pemex, revived Pemex, began producing oil, and recovered the refineries; and now one of our goals is to recover the petrochemical sector of Pemex,” said the president.

Claudia Sheinbaum reminded the attendees about what happened during what she calls the neoliberal period, during which state-owned companies were sold, privatized, and Pemex was practically destroyed. The president emphasized that since 2018, Pemex has begun to be recovered and also highlighted the construction of the Dos Bocas refinery in Paraíso Tabasco, led by Rocío Nahle, now governor of Veracruz. “We are recovering Pemex's production of fertilizers, like in that time, and we are going to strengthen fertilizers and petrochemicals,” she said.

Claudia Sheinbaum added that during this government, the Second Mexican Floor is still being built through Mexican Humanism, based on two foundations, first, the indigenous peoples of the country, for which Mexicans are a fraternal and honest people. “Look at our fellow countrymen living in the United States, they never forget their hometown, they never forget their families, that’s why we love them so much, that’s why we will always defend them, because they keep that affection and love for their homeland and people,” that distinguishes us as Mexicans, she pointed out.

With this visit to the municipality of Tihuatlán, the president concludes her work tour of the state of Veracruz, which took place in the municipalities of Misantla, Martínez de la Torre, Puerto, Cardel, Misantla, Emiliano Zapata, Martínez de la Torre, and Gutiérrez Zamora.
