The PT Prepares for the Municipal Elections in Veracruz

The PT is working on its electoral strategy for the municipal elections in Veracruz, aiming to improve its records and attract dissatisfied members from Morena. Tensions are expected in the political landscape ahead of the presentation of candidacies.

The PT Prepares for the Municipal Elections in Veracruz

The Labor Party (PT) in Veracruz has begun to work on its electoral strategy after deciding to compete alone in the municipal elections. Meanwhile, in Morena, discussions persist about the role that the Yunes family will play, after former PAN members were decisive in approving the judicial reform in the Senate.

In this context, Governor Cuitláhuac García seeks to position candidates in Veracruz, coming into conflict with the electoral plan of Rocío Nahle. The PT believes that it could improve its previous electoral results and strengthen its structure in light of Nahle's government. It is expected that, if Morena fails to satisfy all its members, some of them may join the PT to compete in different municipalities with more competitive profiles.

"We have a competitive strength in 80 cities, of which we have good chances of winning in 30," said a PT leader to LPO. According to this line of thought, some figures from Morena who do not manage to lead the electoral ballots in the 212 municipalities might find a natural refuge in the PT due to existing affinities between both parties.

This strategic movement is seen as an opportunity to increase the flow of votes and strengthen the PT in Veracruz. Additionally, growing tensions are anticipated between political forces in the state, as it is expected that discontented members of Morena could seek their political future in the PT rather than in other options like the Green Party.

The scenario in Veracruz could experience significant changes as the deadline for submitting candidacies approaches, set for March 16. For now, the PT is evaluating the distribution of its resources and the involvement of its deputies and senators in the electoral contest in June.

Governor Cuitláhuac García seeks to position members of his team in relevant roles, which generates friction with the current governor, Rocío Nahle, who maintains differences with her predecessor.
