Zacatecas Governor Announces Early Start to Christmas Posadas in Communities

The governor of Zacatecas, David Monreal Ávila, announced the early start of Christmas posadas in communities across the state, assuring that the goal is to bring well-being and joy to families. More than a month before Christmas, the governor announced via social media that the tour began this Monday, November 10, in El Baluarte, Fresnillo. There, they distributed food baskets, gifts, and toys as part of a strategy called 'Posadas for Peace and Well-being.' In recent posts, Monreal stated that these activities will take place in various municipalities with the aim of 'moving up Christmas' through the delivery of resources. 'We have begun touring the communities of all of Zacatecas to celebrate the Posadas for Peace and Well-being; we are moving up Christmas for many families, bringing them food baskets, gifts, and toys.' The activities are taking place while the population maintains a high level of concern for security. According to the National Urban Public Safety Survey (ENSU) by INEGI, for the July-September 2025 quarter (published on October 23, 2025), the perception of insecurity in the city of Zacatecas was 76.8%, while in Fresnillo it was 75.4%. Although both figures show a slight reduction compared to the previous quarter, where the city of Zacatecas had a perception of insecurity of 80.7% and Fresnillo 86.7%, both remain among the highest in the country. However, official data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Safety System (SESNSP) show that Zacatecas recorded 119 victims of intentional homicide in common jurisdiction from January to September 2025, a decrease from the previous year when 820 victims of intentional homicide were recorded. In addition to this crime, during this 2025 period, 141 investigation files were opened for extortion, 482 incidents of violent robbery, and 358 complaints were filed for missing and unlocated persons. The tour of the state's Christmas activities continued through the localities of Potrerillos and San Lucas, in the municipality of Florencia de Benito Juárez, delivering the same support announced by the governor. Monreal highlighted that these actions are part of a broader effort to consolidate public policies that prioritize attention to families and the construction of social peace in the state. In his publications, the governor emphasized that 'well-being is built with love for our people' and that the joy of the population is a key indicator to measure the impact of his programs. The strategy includes visits to multiple communities in the coming days, where food support and toys will be delivered, as well as the holding of recreational and cultural activities.
