The Secretary of Public Education (SEP) of Puebla, led by Manuel Viveros Narciso, has reported a total of 22 cases of school violence since the beginning of the new administration on December 14. Among these cases is the tragic incident of a seven-year-old boy who took his own life in Zacatlán after suffering bullying at the hands of a teacher. Viveros Narciso pointed out that four of the reports correspond to bullying.
According to Viveros Narciso, the cause of these problems can be attributed to dissociative processes that occur in different areas. In a meeting held in Mexico City on February 25, the activities of the Healthy Life in Schools program were discussed, which focuses on the prevention of addictions, promotion of mental health, and other services. These actions are developed in line with the policies implemented by the government of Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
Regarding the case of the deceased minor in Zacatlán, it was reported that the teachers involved have been temporarily removed from their positions while the corresponding investigation is carried out by the educational sector authorities. Viveros Narciso stated that around 22 reports have been received so far, which cover situations of aggression mainly between students, without specifically detailing the affected institutions.
The head of SEP Puebla indicated that they have worked directly with those affected in some cases to achieve reconciliation. In more serious or complex situations, provisional measures have been taken to separate the teachers from their positions while investigations are underway. To date, none of the teachers have been definitively dismissed, as procedures are ongoing. The institution's focus is to seek reconciliation among all parties involved.
