Rosalinda González Exonerated from Organized Crime Charges

Rosalinda González Valencia, wife of Nemesio Oseguera 'El Mencho', leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), was acquitted of organized crime after winning an appeal on Thursday, November 14. The resolution from District Judge Fidel Carrizal González indicated that her innocence was proven, according to her lawyer.

In a defeat for the Attorney General's Office (FGR), a new sentence for Rosalinda González could not be obtained through legal means. Despite this, the woman, who faces a five-year sentence for money laundering, could seek to clear herself of that charge to leave prison as soon as possible by filing an appeal.

Rosalinda González Valencia, known as 'La Jefa', had been accused in 2018 of money laundering and organized crime. After posting bail of one million 580 thousand pesos and agreeing to appear twice a month before the Cautionary Measures Unit, she was allowed to continue her process in freedom. However, she did not comply with this order and was re-arrested in November 2021 in Zapopan, a stronghold of the CJNG.

At the end of last year, she was sentenced to five years for money laundering, while it was expected her sentence for organized crime would increase. However, on Thursday, November 14, she was not linked to this case.

During her time in the CJNG, Rosalinda González Valencia is believed to have been involved in the trafficking of synthetic drugs to the United States.
