A new cold front will intensify climate changes in Mexico. Frost is expected in the north and warm temperatures in the south, along with rain in several states.

Next Sunday, February 16, low temperatures are expected in mountainous areas of Chihuahua and Durango, with forecasts ranging between -15 and -10 degrees Celsius, accompanied by frost. Minimum temperatures of -10 to -5 degrees Celsius are also predicted in elevated areas of Baja California and Sonora. For other regions such as Zacatecas, State of Mexico, Tlaxcala, and Puebla, minimums of -5 to 0 degrees Celsius are expected. Finally, areas such as Baja California Sur, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Jalisco, Michoacán, and others could record minimums between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius.

The National Water Commission (Conagua) has reported that cold front number 27 will extend over various parts of the northwest, north, and northeast of Mexico on Sunday, February 16, interacting with a trough and a polar jet stream. This situation will generate strong to very strong winds in these regions. It is expected that during the night, both the trough and the polar jet stream will move towards the center of the United States, ceasing to affect the country. Despite this, a hot to very hot environment will be maintained with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius in certain areas of Mexico.

If you are planning to spend the weekend away from home to celebrate February 14, keep in mind that the weather will be changing, with cold, heat, and rain according to Conagua's forecast. Rain and downpours are also expected in several regions of the northeast, east, center, and southeast of the country, including the Yucatán Peninsula, with possible heavy rains in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, and Quintana Roo.

On Saturday, February 15, it is forecasted that the cold front will move towards south Texas, while the cold air mass will change its thermal characteristics. Additionally, the arrival of the new cold front number 27 will generate strong winds in the northwest and north of the country, rain in Baja California and Sonora, and possible snowfall in the Sierra of Baja California. Similarly, rain and downpours are expected in Michoacán and Guerrero. A warm to very warm environment will be maintained in the Pacific, the Yucatán Peninsula, Tabasco, Puebla, and Morelos. Furthermore, snowfall or sleet is expected in the Sierra of Baja California, according to Conagua.
