Coparmex Advocates for Migrant Hiring in Mexico

The Employers' Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) has announced that it will promote the hiring of migrant workers, as well as collaborate with authorities to facilitate necessary administrative processes. It also aims to complement the government's security actions with prevention strategies, a culture of peace, and citizen participation, with the goal of contributing to a safer and more favorable environment for economic development.

In the words of Coparmex president, Juan José Sierra Álvarez, the preservation of the rule of law is fundamental for productive development and attracting investments. It is expected that this Monday he will participate along with other leaders and Mexican businessmen in Donald Trump's inauguration in Washington D.C. Additionally, the organization's participation in prior events celebrating Hispanic influence in the United States has been highlighted, reaffirming Coparmex's commitment to collaborate with authorities and the private sector to position North America as the most competitive region in the world.

Facing the challenges posed by the new U.S. government led by Donald Trump, Coparmex believes that Mexico must act strategically to consolidate North America as the most competitive region globally. The organization indicates that while the international geopolitical context offers opportunities for more solid economic and social development, it also presents significant risks due to threats towards Mexico.

In this regard, Coparmex advocates for prioritizing mutual respect and cooperation in the bilateral relationship, highlighting the importance of rethinking the connection between Mexico and the United States based on mutual trust. It is emphasized that Mexico has the opportunity to change its export profile towards high value-added industries, which would be crucial for fostering wealth generation and its international influence. The recent announcement of the Mexico Plan has been considered a positive step in that direction.

To strengthen growth and cooperation among the countries that make up the USMCA (Mexico, the United States, and Canada), a joint effort between the public and private sectors is proposed, seeking to establish bridges of dialogue with unions, business organizations, and governments. Furthermore, the importance of encouraging the creation of formal jobs, promoting entrepreneurship, and supporting micro and small businesses as means to boost the economy and social development in the country is emphasized.
