Victory Mexico Bets on the Last Mile Market

In the last three years, the presence of Chinese commercial vehicle brands in Mexico has increased due to the identification of a market niche in the last-mile segment. According to Mordor Intelligence, the last-mile delivery market in Mexico is expected to reach $15.63 billion by 2025 and $27.31 billion by 2030. The challenges identified for companies in this segment include urban logistics issues and the need for faster and more sustainable deliveries.

Victory Mexico, a new subsidiary of Victory Group based in Changzhi, China, has developed a business plan to introduce its vehicles to the Mexican market. Gerardo Salazar, CEO of Victory Mexico, explained that their focus is on meeting the demand for last-mile transportation, driven by the growth of e-commerce and delivery in recent years in Mexico.

With an initial investment of 80 million pesos, the goal is to introduce 500 units (gasoline and electric) in the first year. The company plans to establish an assembly plant in Teoloyucan, State of Mexico, and expand to cities such as Puebla, León, Querétaro, and Mérida. The intention is to produce at least 20,000 vehicles per year in the next five years.

Victory Mexico plans to partner with two large companies to develop the necessary infrastructure for the marketing of its electric vehicles. Salazar mentioned that they have already conducted pilot tests with companies in Bajío, State of Mexico, and the Central de Abastos in Mexico City. The company's initial strategy includes opening 12 distributors with 15 sales points in cities such as CDMX, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, where the infrastructure for electric vehicles is more advanced.

In Mexico, Victory Mexico plans to offer the V1, a van-type vehicle, the K1 family with gasoline versions, and the electric vehicle VE1 with CATL batteries and a range of 300 km. With the intention of supplying the domestic market and other markets in Latin America and the Caribbean in the future, the company aims to position itself as a key player in the last-mile commercial vehicle segment in the country.
