The mobility platform Uber announced the launch of its new service, Uber XXL, designed for users who need additional space for luggage when traveling to and from Mexico City International Airport and Cancun International Airport. According to the company, Uber XXL offers six seats and larger trunks for greater comfort.
Juan Pablo Eiroa, general director of Uber Mexico, commented: "We have very good news to start the year. We want to announce a product that will help improve the experience of millions of visitors to our country and will bring significant economic benefits to the two most important tourist hubs."
Uber indicated that it has a definitive suspension that allows it to operate in all airports in Mexico. The company also noted that it has legal protection against certain provisions of the Mobility Law in Quintana Roo, which allows it to offer services in Cancun and engage in dialogue to improve mobility in that tourist area.
Despite Uber's announcement, Mexico City International Airport reiterated the need for special permits to provide passenger transportation services in federal areas such as airports. AICM emphasized that, for safety reasons, passengers must follow the instructions of terminal staff to access the available transportation services.
Uber stated that its goal is to simplify the lives of users by offering mobility options that fit their needs. The company expressed its willingness to engage in dialogue to improve the mobility ecosystem in tourist destinations and provide a comfortable and safe experience for travelers.
