Claudia Sheinbaum Offers 35,000 Jobs Amid Deportation Threats

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced on Friday that, as a result of the dialogues held with the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), 35,000 jobs have been offered in case President Donald Trump follows through on his threats of mass deportations. She highlighted the constant communication and support from the CCE for the project led by her. The proposed jobs would be in various areas and would prioritize 'countrymen' who are forced to return to the country.

The president urged calm and to read Trump's decrees carefully, mentioning that the interpretation highlighted in the media may differ from the reality of what the signed documents state since his inauguration. Since his campaign, Trump has threatened to close the southern border with Mexico, conduct mass raids to deport migrants, and impose tariffs of 25% on the country, which has raised concerns in economic and business sectors.

In response, Sheinbaum emphasized that the Mexican economy is strong and that Mexicans and Latinos in the U.S. significantly contribute to that country's economy, which could lead to negative repercussions for Americans if the threats are fulfilled. Additionally, she assured that Mexico is prepared to welcome Mexican migrant brothers, facilitating their reintegration into the country with support both in Mexico and the U.S. to ensure the respect of their rights.
