The State of Mexico stands out as an economic leader at the national level, having generated 79,000 new formal jobs and experiencing a historic growth of 12.7% in new economic units, according to the 2024 Economic Censuses by INEGI.
The management of Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez has been crucial in this achievement by promoting the creation of around 130,000 new companies, significantly surpassing states like Jalisco, Nuevo León, and Querétaro in the largest increase over the last four national censuses.
The Secretary of Economic Development, Laura González Hernández, has highlighted that this success is the result of public policies aimed at encouraging investment, strengthening SMEs, and creating a competitive environment that favors business growth under the 2023-2029 Economic Development Plan.
In comparison to other entities, Jalisco had less than half of the new economic units, and Querétaro only about one-sixth, consolidating the State of Mexico as an economic engine. Commerce and services represent 89% of the growth, while 20% of the active population is employed in the manufacturing sector.
This growth not only benefits the state economy but also positively impacts the quality of life for Mexican families by providing formal jobs and stable employment opportunities. The State Government is working to maintain its long-term leadership by promoting strategic projects such as logistics and economic corridors, attracting foreign direct investment, and developing emerging sectors like technology and energy.
