Change of Leadership in the National Agricultural Council

The relevance of the National Agricultural Council (CNA) transcends with the upcoming change in the presidency, where Juan Cortina will hand over his position to Jorge Esteve on February 17. Esteve, recognized for his work in the agro-industrial sector globally, has led operations in more than 40 countries. During the last General Assembly, he expressed his commitment to addressing challenges and seizing opportunities in the Mexican agri-food sector.

In another sector, Arca Continental, a prominent Coca-Cola bottler, led by Arturo Gutiérrez and chaired by Jorge H. Santos, has been recognized for corporate sustainability. Included in the Sustainability Yearbook by Standard & Poor’s Global for the third consecutive year, the company focuses on business growth in line with sustainability, having recently been incorporated into the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World).

Changes have been approved in the National Workers' Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit), generating uncertainty regarding the management and outcomes of the reforms. The director, Octavio Romero Oropeza, holds more weight in the Council's decisions, raising concerns among specialists and the financial sector regarding potential impacts on workers' savings.

Meanwhile, the airline sector has shown a significant rebound with the transportation of more than 119 million passengers last year. Volaris, Viva, and Aeroméxico are the predominant national airlines leading the market, while international routes continue to compete for more passengers. The sector expects steady growth and recovery during this year, with both domestic and international flights reporting promising figures.
