Puntored Boosts Financial Inclusion in Mexico

Puntored, an enabler of alternative payment methods in Mexico, offers over a thousand financial products and services through small businesses across the country. This aims to boost financial inclusion among the population and facilitate operations such as cash withdrawals, credit or tax payments, phone top-ups, and payment for basic services.

Arturo Halgraves, CEO of Puntored in Mexico, highlights that approximately 6 million people are already conducting transactions through the firm, whether in physical establishments or digital channels. Currently, the company has 50,000 access points in businesses and chains where various financial transactions can be carried out.

Puntored's initiative seeks to meet the needs of communities and populations with limited access in Mexico that lack financial services. The medium-term goal is for more than 30 million users in Mexico to use its services and for 250,000 physical access points to be established in the country.

Puntored positions itself as an alternative network to traditional correspondents and focuses on areas where large chains are not present. Currently, 10 percent of the affiliated establishments are located in rural or hard-to-reach areas. The company aims to offer savings in transportation and time to users, with commissions up to 50 percent lower than those of other correspondents.

In summary, Puntored seeks to facilitate access to financial services through small businesses across Mexico, aiming to reduce barriers to inclusion and provide more accessible payment options to the population.
