New SAT Platform Simplifies Tax Declarations

The SAT launches new digital platforms to simplify tax declarations in Mexico, improving efficiency in the process and reducing errors. These tools are designed to help taxpayers meet their tax obligations more easily and automatically.

New SAT Platform Simplifies Tax Declarations

The Tax Administration Service (SAT) has launched two new digital platforms aimed at facilitating tax compliance for millions of taxpayers in Mexico. These tools seek to simplify the process of tax declaration and payment, reducing the need for in-person procedures and minimizing data entry errors.

One of the highlighted features of these platforms is the automatic preloading of information, allowing certain tax data to be ready for review and confirmation before submitting the declaration. Among the most relevant advantages are the automatic preloading of issued and received CFDI, payrolls, and previous tax losses, as well as the availability of a history of previous payments to facilitate calculations and prevent errors.

These platforms are aimed at individuals with business and professional activities, as well as those renting properties who must submit provisional or final payments of ISR and VAT through the new tool. Additionally, companies and individuals required to report transactions with third parties must use the new platform for the DIOT.

Despite the advantages these updates offer, some experts warn about the possibility of increased scrutiny by the SAT due to data automation, which could lead to more agile detection of tax omissions and potential audits for those who do not adequately meet their tax obligations.

The SAT's message is clear: taxpayers must keep their tax obligations up to date and adjust their regime through the "Notice of update of economic activities and obligations" on the SAT Portal to avoid potential issues in the tax declaration and payment process.
