According to Bloomberg News, Apple plans to launch its own modem for the thinner iPhone, scheduled for this fall, and this component will be integrated into the Pro models in 2026. The company introduced the iPhone 16e as its new 'economical' model aimed at driving growth after a slow holiday season.

The iPhone 16e will go on sale in Mexico on February 28 and will have a price of 170 dollars more than the previous model. Pre-orders in Mexico will start on February 21. According to Apple's official page, the iPhone 16e will be available in two colors, white and black, with prices varying depending on storage capacity.

Regarding the features of the iPhone 16e, it stands out for the elimination of the home button and the inclusion of a larger screen with Face ID. The device features a 48-megapixel rear camera, the A18 chip, and a USB-C charging port, in addition to running the company's artificial intelligence software, Apple Intelligence.

Apple plans to make design changes in its future iPhone models for the year 2025, including a thinner version of the phone. The company seeks to boost its smartphone business after experiencing a decline in sales in the last quarter, especially in markets like China where local competition is stronger.

The iPhone 16e represents Apple's effort to reach the more economical segment of the smartphone market. Despite not including all the features of the more expensive models, it stands out for having an internal cellular modem chip called C1, which replaces a Qualcomm component, thus marking a transition for the company away from this supplier.
