Experts agree on the importance of improving cross-border infrastructure between the northeast region of Mexico and Texas to take advantage of the arrival of companies and the increase in trade. Zaira Sáenz, Operations Director of the Texas Office in Mexico, emphasizes the need to generate more lanes on the bridges, avoid traffic congestion at inspection points, and optimize transit times.
During the North America Mobility Summit 2025, Sáenz pointed out that coordination between both regions is essential to make crossings more efficient, as the current infrastructure in Texas is insufficient to handle the commercial flow. She highlighted that Texas is investing nearly $158 billion to improve its land infrastructure.
On the other hand, Zelina Fernández, General Director of Index Nuevo León, commented that companies in the region see the growth of trade as an opportunity to reduce times and improve efficiencies. She noted that many companies are investing in digitalization, blockchain, smart storage, robots, and improving internal logistics.
Fernández emphasized that 70 percent of merchandise dispatch and shipping logistics are expected to be automated this year, which shows an increasing focus on technology to make the movement of materials in plants and distribution processes more efficient.
