In the State Congress, the Morena deputy, Hades Berenice Aguilar Castillo, has generated controversy by presenting a motion to modify the Operating Rules of the Tarjeta Rosa program. This program, which in 2024 awarded 1,000 pesos monthly to each beneficiary, has undergone significant changes for 2025.
For the year 2025, the program budget was reduced to 3.5 billion pesos, and the support was cut in half, decreasing from 12,000 to only 6,000 pesos per year. Additionally, the delivery of assistance changed from monthly to bi-monthly, raising concerns about the program's effectiveness.
Aguilar Castillo pointed out that age limitations in the program have left a broad sector of women without access to support, contradicting the program's initial aim of reducing the wage gap and inequality of opportunities. Currently, women under 25 years and over 45 are excluded, restricting the benefit to mothers within that age range.
In light of this situation, the deputy has called for adjustments to expand the program's coverage and ensure that no woman is left out of these resources. The agreement has been forwarded to the Economic and Social Development Commission for its respective analysis and opinion.
