Tax authorities have identified that companies with a high environmental impact, such as quarries and factories, are underreporting their income to evade contributions destined for environmental cleanup and mitigation. The Undersecretary of Tax Administration, Carlos Contreras Segovia, emphasized the importance of ensuring that these companies fulfill their tax responsibilities.
The Undersecretariat of Tax Administration (SATNL), under the direction of Carlos Contreras Segovia, has launched "Fiscal Alerts" and reviews specifically aimed at these sectors in order to ensure compliance with their state tax obligations. Alleged irregularities in local tax payments have been detected, especially regarding environmental taxes.
The inspections have focused on quarries, extractive industries, and factories that, in addition to generating pollution, show anomalies in the payment of state taxes. The aim is not only to collect but also to ensure that the revenue is allocated to programs for preventing environmental damage caused by these industries.
In the event of tax omissions or non-compliance with tax obligations, companies could face fines, seizures for failure to contribute, and even criminal proceedings for tax evasion. SATNL is now collaborating with environmental agencies at both the federal and state levels to exchange information and thus identify polluting companies that are also evading tax payments.
With these measures, SATNL aims to strengthen its role as a collector and safeguard the responsibility of companies with environmental impact. It is expected that in the coming months, reviews in various sectors will continue to prevent evasion and ensure the proper use of fiscal resources.
