Claudia Sheinbaum on Product Prices

President Claudia Sheinbaum, during her morning conference on March 3 at the National Palace, answered questions about the possibility of regulating the prices of products such as coffee, in contrast to the government plan to maintain the cost of regular gasoline at a maximum of 24 pesos per liter. Sheinbaum pointed out that the government will not implement price controls but will seek voluntary agreements with the involved sectors, just as was done with the Anti-Inflation and High Cost Package (PACIC).

Regarding the agreement with gas station owners, which came into effect that same day, they were offered a reduction in administrative procedures to facilitate the opening and operation of service stations. Sheinbaum also mentioned that Profeco will conduct reviews in 15 days to ensure compliance with the agreement, although she noted that some gas station owners have still not signed it.

The head of government highlighted that this type of voluntary agreements has helped contain inflation and prevent sharp increases in essential products for Mexican families. Sheinbaum expressed her gratitude to gas station owners for their cooperation in this regard and emphasized the importance of seeking affordable prices for consumers.
