The Government of Mexico has implemented the Rita Cetina Universal Scholarship, a financial support program aimed at secondary school students in vulnerable situations. The amount of support is $1,900 pesos bimonthly, with an additional $700 pesos for each secondary school student enrolled in the program. This money is deposited into cards from the Bank of Wellbeing and can be used for purchasing school supplies, educational materials, and school transportation.
The objective of the Rita Cetina Universal Scholarship is to reduce the economic barriers that prevent children from accessing education in Mexico, promoting educational equity. So far, 57,000 new applicants have registered to access this federal support, joining the students who already benefit from it.
The delivery of the cards to beneficiaries is carried out by staff from the Government of Mexico, who will deliver them to the registered address. For those who have not received the card, information can be requested through a customer service phone number or by consulting the official Rita Cetina Scholarship website for more details.
The program has achieved total coverage in all 32 federal entities of Mexico, ensuring the delivery of the Rita Cetina Universal Scholarship to secondary school students across the country. Starting March 10, the delivery of the cards will begin in the State of Mexico, thus completing the national distribution of the program.
According to the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), over 750,000 cards have already been distributed, and it is expected to reach 2.9 million beneficiaries throughout Mexican territory. This program represents an important step in ensuring educational continuity and the well-being of secondary school students in Mexico.
