The Ministry of Economy announced a pact related to exports in compliance with the T-MEC, the treaty between Mexico, the United States, and Canada. However, the President of the United States has confirmed that the 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum will continue to apply. Mexico has expressed its disagreement with this measure and is evaluating options to protect its companies. A consultation in the steel industry will be held on March 14 to discuss possible future actions.

In other news, it was reported that Mabe, a Mexican company, plans to invest 668 million dollars in the country between 2026 and 2027, as part of the Mexico Plan. The company has 15 plants in Mexican territory and is one of the main exporters of household appliances to the United States. The CEO of Mabe reaffirmed the company's commitment to Mexico and its goal of keeping the country a leader in white goods manufacturing.

On the other hand, the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, communicated that the total investment portfolio in Mexico amounts to 22 billion dollars, including national and foreign investment. In a press conference led by President Claudia Sheinbaum, topics such as negotiations on steel and aluminum tariffs with the United States were addressed.

Regarding national security, Sheinbaum commented on the discovery of clandestine graves and a training center of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in Teuchitlán, Jalisco. The Attorney General’s Office will take charge of the investigation. Sheinbaum highlighted the importance of clarifying the facts and determining responsibilities.

Regarding the application of tariffs on steel and aluminum, a pause was agreed until April 2, the date on which new trade policies will be announced. Negotiations are expected to continue and decisions to be made based on reciprocity. Meetings between work teams are ongoing, and beneficial agreements for Mexico are expected to be reached.
