Banks in Mexico will close on March 17, 2025

The Mexican Banking Association (ABM) announced that banking institutions will suspend operations on Monday, March 17, 2025, in compliance with the provisions of the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV). Only banks operating within supermarkets and commercial warehouses will provide service, during traditional hours, as it is considered a holiday.

This measure is due to the fact that March 17 is a mandatory rest day in Mexico, according to Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law, in commemoration of the birth of Benito Juárez. The ABM reminded customers that during the bank closure, they can use more than 64,000 ATMs, 56,900 banking correspondents, and the digital, electronic, and telephone services available 24 hours a day. Moreover, if there is any scheduled payment for March 17, the Law for Transparency and Regulation of Financial Services allows it to be made on the next business day without penalty.

According to the official calendar of the CNBV for the year 2025, banks will suspend operations on various dates, with March 17 being the next on the list. Users are advised to plan their banking operations in advance to avoid inconveniences during these closure days.
