The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, is carrying out a project to promote agroecological production and fair trade in the country. During a recent visit to Tabasco, Sheinbaum announced that all the cocoa produced in the region will be purchased from the farmers of Sembrando Vida. This cocoa will be transformed into chocolate and sold in all Bienestar stores.
Moreover, Sheinbaum highlighted the importance of Tabasco in the national plan to achieve food sovereignty due to its potential irrigation districts, which will help strengthen national production and reduce dependence on imports.
During her visit, the leader inaugurated the drinking water plant 'Carrizal 2', which will benefit more than 500,000 residents by improving access to drinking water in the region. This plant, part of an investment program in the water sector, was initiated in the previous administration and required a significant investment.
In addition to the drinking water plant, Sheinbaum announced plans to boost infrastructure and transportation in Tabasco. Projects such as the modernization of the Escárcega highway and the extension of the Interoceanic Train to Tabasco are part of this initiative to improve connectivity and regional development.
Among the plans presented by Sheinbaum, there is also an emphasis on strengthening the Sembrando Vida program in Tabasco, focusing on the production and marketing of local cocoa. Through Alimentación para el Bienestar, the production of cocoa will be purchased from local farmers to transform it into chocolate and distribute it throughout the country. This promotion of Tabasco cocoa aims to promote regional economy and fair trade in Mexico.
