Jalisco Launches Major Road Maintenance Program

The Government of Jalisco, through the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP), has announced the start of the Road Maintenance Program, which includes works on various roads in the state starting March 18. The main objective of these works is to ensure that state highways are in optimal condition to facilitate economic and social development activities, ensuring road safety and strengthening connectivity between regions.

According to SIOP, the maintenance works will extend for a minimum period of six years and it is expected that there will be 95 active fronts in less than two months. The rehabilitation plan for the roads includes addressing a total of 2,080 kilometers of state highways, which is approximately the distance between Guadalajara and Mexicali.

The road program has an investment of 8,527 million pesos and aims to provide attention to the roads of the 125 municipalities of Jalisco. This maintenance program is projected to extend until the year 2030.

The works to be carried out under this program include the reconstruction of isolated sections, periodic maintenance with surface or deep patching, the re-leveling of the asphalt surface, as well as the replacement of metal guardrails and the renewal of horizontal and vertical signage.

Among the roads that will be activated for maintenance during the month of March are: Acatlán de Juárez - Techaluta de Montenegro, Tepatitlán South Bypass, Lagos de Moreno - Unión de San Antonio - San Diego de Alejandría, among others.
