The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) has decided to maintain the 'penalty' for drivers this week, without offering tax incentives for gasoline. The announcement was made in the publication of the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF) on Friday, May 2, 2025, after not providing support for fuels last week.
For 'green gasoline' (Magna), the amount for the payment of the Special Tax on Products and Services (IEPS) remains at 6.45 pesos, with no tax incentive this week. On the other hand, 'red gasoline' (Premium) continues to receive no tax incentives, with an IEPS payment of 5.45 pesos. As for diesel, it also does not receive a tax incentive this week, with an IEPS payment of 7.09 pesos.
Regarding the 'price cap' for gasoline in Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum signed an agreement with entrepreneurs and gas station owners to set the price cap for Magna gasoline at 24 pesos per liter, valid for six months to avoid 'gasoline hikes.' The SHCP committed to providing tax incentives for fuels.
The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) continues to monitor gas stations that do not respect the agreed price, placing banners with the message 'Do not fill up here' to expose those that exceed the allowed amount. Additionally, Profeco has developed an interactive map to show drivers the gas stations that comply with the agreement and even sell fuel below the average.
