The Government of Mexico has not exhausted the funds for social programs, according to Secretary Ariadna Montiel when presenting the payment calendar for the Wellbeing Pension corresponding to the May-June bimonthly period. The deposit dates apply to all states in the country, with the exception of Durango and Veracruz, where beneficiaries received a double payment in March due to local elections in June. During election periods, the Secretary of Wellbeing advances the payment of one bimonthly period to respect the electoral ban.
In the morning conference on May 6, Ariadna Montiel explained that the delay in the start of payments was due to two holidays. The Wellbeing Pension will be delivered to 12.7 million older adults, representing a total investment of 78 billion 797 million pesos. The payment calendar by last name is as follows: starting with A on May 7, letter B on May 8, and so on until May 30.
In addition to the Wellbeing Pension, payments will also be made for the Women's Wellbeing Pension, the Pension for people with disabilities, the Program for Working Mothers, and Sowing Life. In total, nearly 16 million people will benefit from an investment of 88 billion 477 million pesos. Regarding the support amount, this year a 3% increase was applied, setting the Pension for older adults at 6,200 pesos. Beneficiaries will receive a total of 37,200 pesos during 2025, paid in the first month of each bimonthly period.
It is noteworthy that the Wellbeing Pension for older adults was elevated to constitutional rank during the term of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and by law, it must increase annually at least in accordance with inflation.
