Santander Mexico seeks sustainable growth

Felipe García, director of Santander Mexico, highlights organic growth in a context of uncertainty and the importance of careful financial integration.


The CEO of Santander Mexico, Felipe García, expressed satisfaction with the company’s organic growth in Mexico, although he admitted to being open to opportunities in the market. Despite the high uncertainty in Mexico, García highlighted the constructive dialogue between Mexico and the United States, which has contributed to maintaining a positive outlook on the country.

García emphasized the importance of continuing to promote banking access and being cautious when granting loans, especially considering the low banking rate in the population. In this regard, he stressed the importance of offering appropriate amounts and ensuring that individuals can responsibly manage their debts.

Regarding Santander's plans, García mentioned the importance of balanced growth in various segments such as cards, cars, and mortgages. He highlighted significant growth in the car portfolio and good performance in mortgages, consumer loans, and with SMEs. He underscored the company’s versatility to expand in all sectors, including foreign trade.

García also mentioned that Santander had attempted to acquire Banamex two years ago, but the process did not materialize. Nevertheless, Santander continues to focus on its growth and to explore new opportunities in the market.
