Operation in One Zone Against Illegal Trade

Authorities conducted an operation in One Zone, Pabellón Cuemanco, seizing more than 9,000 counterfeit products in a national action against illegal trade.

On Wednesday, the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) conducted an operation at the One Zone shopping center, located in Pabellón Cuemanco, as part of the "Operation Cleanup" to combat illegal trade. During this operation, 5,063 counterfeit products were seized, with an estimated value of 385,589 pesos.

In addition to Cuemanco, authorities simultaneously intervened in three other branches of One Zone: Portal Vallejo, Cuautitlán Izcalli, and Tienda Toreo. In total, 9,244 items were confiscated, with a commercial value of 647,322 pesos. It was also reported that processes have been initiated against customs agencies that may have allowed the entry of these products into the country.

Among the seized products were sneakers, caps, toys, and batteries with recognized brands such as Nike, Puma, New Era, Sanrio, Duracell, Lego, and Mario Bros. The general director of IMPI, Santiago Nieto Castillo, emphasized that these actions aim to protect the national industry and address the complaints of the productive sector regarding the growth of illegal trade.

While the authorities were carrying out the operation, staff at the One Zone store in Cuemanco experienced moments of uncertainty. Brenda, one of the employees on duty, described how a group of people arrived directly at the cash registers without speaking to the manager or the rest of the staff. At the end of the operation, confusion persisted among the employees, who were unsure whether the store would close that day or what the next step would be, as management did not provide them with information regarding the matter.
