Businessman Adrián Corona, president of Grupo Corona, was found dead on December 29 in the municipality of Atenguillo, in the Western Sierra region of Jalisco. He had been abducted by armed men. No ransom demand was reported. Two days later, the businessman's body was found on the side of the road near the interception point. According to local media, the Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office preliminarily confirmed that the body showed signs of violence, including gunshot wounds. After genetic identification, the body was handed over to his family for funeral services last Thursday, January 1. The State Prosecutor's Office continues its investigation to clarify the homicide and find those responsible. Grupo Corona is a family business dedicated to the production, marketing, and promotion of tequila and mezcal. Adrián Corona was leading the company at the time of his murder. The company published a message expressing its regret for his death and invited the community and staff to participate in tribute and farewell activities this Sunday in Tonaya, Jalisco. The program includes a reception for employees and the public at the Tonaya plant, the recitation of the Holy Rosary, a eulogy and tribute to the businessman, followed by a mass at the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, and then a procession to the Tonaya cemetery. The company requested that attendees wear white during the events.
