Guanajuato Prepares for Most Intense Tourism Season

Guanajuato is entering its most intense tourism season with a projection of 1.27 million visitors and an economic impact exceeding 3 billion pesos. Of this total, 255,000 will be overnight tourists, meaning direct spending on hotels, restaurants, and services. The expectations are high, as this is one of the weeks that defines the state's economic rhythm.

Chain ready: from hotel to transport State authorities assure that the entire tourism value chain is prepared: hotels, restaurants, transportation, and services. The goal is to absorb a massive flow of visitors that directly impacts income for local families and businesses. "We are ready to receive our visitors," stated Libia Dennisse García Muñoz Ledo, Governor of Guanajuato, when detailing the sector's coordination for the season.

A state that sells for its diversity The bet is not just on volume, but on the offer. Heritage cities like Guanajuato capital and San Miguel de Allende, "Magic Towns," archaeological zones, and the 46 municipalities all come into play as part of the same narrative: different experiences in each destination.

Culture as a second engine Beyond religious tourism, the state is pushing its cultural infrastructure: museums, theaters, exhibitions, and venues active during the peak season. Guanajuato positions itself as the sixth state with the most museums in the country, with spaces like the Museo Casa Diego Rivera and the Museum of Art and History. To these are added 25 theaters, archaeological zones, and temporary exhibitions that seek to extend the length of stay and visitor spending.

Tourism as an immediate engine Holy Week is not just tradition: it is a test of capacity for the tourism sector. More visitors mean more income, but also greater pressure on services, mobility, and the urban experience. The result will set the tone for tourism in Guanajuato for the rest of the year.
