The Mexican state of Nuevo León consolidated its position as the national leader in the creation of companies under the Maquiladora, Manufacturing, and Export Services Industry (Immex) program and in the generation of direct employment within this scheme.
According to data from the state administration, the entity added four new Immex establishments in the first month of the year, reaching a total of 739 economic units, which places it as the entity with the greatest presence in this export model. In contrast, at the national level, only nine new establishments were registered, which evidences the significant contribution of Nuevo León to the growth of the sector.
In terms of employment, the entity also ranked first nationally by adding 4,984 new direct jobs, with a total of 399,293 workers within the Immex program. During the same period, 905 direct jobs were generated nationwide.
“These figures reflect the strength of the state's industrial ecosystem and the confidence of the business sector,” stated Betsabé Rocha, Secretary of Economy of Nuevo León.
Nuevo León continues to demonstrate that it is the main manufacturing engine of the country, which confirms the confidence of companies in our state and our productive capacity,” affirmed the official.
Rocha expressed that each job generated represents a direct impact on the well-being of Nuevo León families and emphasized that these achievements are the result of strategies focused on sustainable economic development.
“Each new Immex job represents an opportunity for Nuevo León families; these results are the product of public policies focused on attracting investment, strengthening the industry, and generating sustainable economic development,” added the secretary.
Nuevo León's performance in the Immex program is due to its integration into global value chains, as well as its infrastructure, human capital, and competitiveness conditions that allow companies to operate and grow in strategic sectors.
The program allows companies to temporarily import inputs for their transformation and export, consolidating itself as a key component of the country's manufacturing sector. In Nuevo León, this model has become one of the main engines of employment and economic growth, boosting the state's participation in international trade.
