Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum spoke at a business forum in Nuevo León, stating the positive progress in trade negotiations with the US and Canada. She also announced the launch of an air quality improvement program in the region in collaboration with UNAM.

Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum sent a message of certainty to the business sector of Nuevo León, assuring that trade negotiations with northern partners, the United States and Canada, are progressing positively. The federal executive attended as a guest at the 82nd Annual Assembly of the Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Caintra) in Nuevo León. Despite recent tensions, the head of state was emphatic. 'Since I believe it is relevant to everyone, we are doing very well in the trade treaty,' she said. Sheinbaum acknowledged that while the path has had 'ups and downs' and challenges have been faced due to tariffs in sectors such as steel, aluminum, and automobiles, there is already a clear route for negotiation. 'There is something very important, which is that there is already a formal working table for the review of the treaty, and that gives us a lot of certainty,' she explained. She indicated that they do not lose hope that all this can be renegotiated in this new stage. 'And really, there is a good attitude on the part of the government of the United States, and we believe that with the entire international situation, particularly in the United States, which has elections this year, there is certainty for our country and for the future of the trade treaty with the United States and Canada,' she highlighted. Alliance with UNAM for air quality During her participation, the president also addressed the environmental problem in the region. She informed that in approximately two weeks she will hold a strategic meeting with the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate Change of UNAM. The objective is to consolidate the 'Todos por el Aire' program through solid scientific bases. Sheinbaum explained that the academics from the Maxima Casa de Estudios already have an inventory of emissions and air quality measurements. 'In order to present very soon, jointly, an air quality program and measures that allow us to access this program'. This initiative is being worked on in coordination with Caintra and the state government.
