Fuel Price Stabilization in Mexico

Mexico's successful gasoline price stabilization strategy has kept fuel below 24 pesos per liter. Now, the government and fuel companies have a temporary agreement to reduce diesel prices nationwide.

Fuel Price Stabilization in Mexico

For a year, the Strategy to stabilize the price of regular gasoline in the Mexican Republic has been successfully implemented. It calls for the voluntary participation of sector entrepreneurs and the direct action of various government agencies. Through this strategy, the price of this energy source has been kept below 24 pesos per liter, and it remains in effect. In the current international context of rising oil prices and various of its derivatives, including fuels, companies in the gasoline sector and the Federal Government have established a temporary agreement. The objective is to reduce the price of diesel fuel in the coming days across the country. Similar to the regular gasoline strategy, this extraordinary agreement calls for the voluntary participation of the majority of gasoline companies. They will reflect lower prices for this fuel, as permitted by operational conditions related to inventories, logistics, distribution, terminal prices, and IEPS incentives. Companies in the gasoline sector and the Government of Mexico reaffirm their commitment to coordination and joint work for the benefit of the Mexican people.
