Mexicana de Aviación has announced the launch of new routes. Starting in June, a route will be opened from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) to Acapulco. In July, the airline plans to launch a route from AIFA to Hermosillo, along with another destination. Furthermore, by 2026, Mexicana expects to receive 7 Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, and in 2027, it will receive an additional 8 E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft. This will not only cover current routes but also allow for expansion into strategic markets such as the northwest and the Pacific coast.
To attract customers, the airline offers special promotions, including "Martes de primera," which allows for cheaper flight tickets. Mexicana also provides travel packages that include airfare, hotel accommodation, airport transfers, car rentals, and tour packages. Additionally, the company has loyalty programs with bronze, silver, and gold tiers.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, during her morning press conference on April 1st at the National Palace, answered questions regarding the hydrocarbon spill in Veracruz. During the conference, Sheinbaum announced the appointment of a new director of Customs. Héctor Alonso Romero will replace Rafael Marín. The President explained that Romero will be responsible for increasing revenue and the digital transformation of customs. Rafael Marín, in turn, will move to work in the government of Yucatán.
President Claudia Sheinbaum also commented on the compliments from American actress Meryl Streep, who, during her stay in Mexico to promote the movie "The Devil Wears Prada 2," called her the best actress in the world. Sheinbaum thanked Streep for her high praise and noted that international recognition for Mexico, including its appointment of a female president, is a significant achievement.
AIFA Director Isidoro Pastor reported that in the four years since its opening, the airport has transported a total of 18,638,345 passengers. In March, cargo transport reached 1,136,911 tons. The airport serves 41 domestic and 5 international destinations, including Colombia, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic. Moreover, AIFA reached its financial break-even point in the first quarter of 2024.
