Mexico has launched a massive 315 billion peso road construction program, set to create nearly a million jobs and complete key projects, including bridges in Quintana Roo and Chiapas.

According to the official presentation 'Avances Infraestructura Carretera', the federal government reported that the total investment in this sector, along with conservation and maintenance actions, amounts to 315,331 million pesos, with a projection of 945,993 jobs to be generated. The report details that the national plan focuses on five fronts: priority axes, bridges, and interchanges, highways, reconstruction due to rain damage, and road conservation. Also highlighted are the Rizo de Oro Bridge in Chiapas, at 88%, and works in Colima such as Arco Norte (92%), Arco Sur (91%), and El Chical (96%). In parallel, the MegaBachetón program contemplates 50 billion pesos to address the 40,548 kilometers of the federal toll-free road network. As of the report, authorities indicate 360 kilometers of construction or modernization completed, 4,500 kilometers of conservation finished, and 78 bridges finalized. Among the projects with the most progress stands out the Nichupté Bridge in Quintana Roo, with 97% progress and a planned completion date for April 2026. Road infrastructure in Mexico maintains in 2026 one of the most ambitious public investment programs in recent years. To date, the government reports 28,594 potholes repaired and a 4% progress in repaving, equivalent to 622 kilometers intervened. The project seeks to connect the urban area of Cancún with the hotel zone and reduce travel times from 55 to 10 minutes.
