Increase in Tax Revenue Under Claudia Sheinbaum

Tax revenue in favor of the Government of Claudia Sheinbaum continues to grow, according to data provided by the Tax Administration Service (SAT) this Monday. In the first nine months of this year, a total of 3 trillion 687 billion 533 million pesos was recorded, which represents a real increase of 5.3% compared to the same period last year.

In the breakdown, for Income Tax (ISR), 2 trillion 38 billion 11 million pesos were collected from January to September, an increase of 114 billion 865 million pesos compared to the previous year. Regarding the Value Added Tax (VAT), 1 trillion 38 billion 844 million pesos were obtained, an increase of 85 billion 790 million pesos.

Additionally, the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) collected 449 billion 938 million pesos, representing a significant growth of 30.8% compared to the same period in 2023.

The increase in tax collection is attributed to the implementation of the SAT's Master Plan for Taxation and Collection, which has allowed greater control over tax collection without the need to create new taxes or increase existing ones.

According to Ramiro Ávalos Martínez, corporate tax partner at Baker Tilly, the SAT has demonstrated effectiveness in collection through audits. He noted that during the current six-year term, 3.3 trillion pesos have been collected, of which 1 trillion corresponds to audits directed at small and medium taxpayers.
