Claudia Sheinbaum Calls Out Trump on Peso Depreciation

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum points out that the depreciation of the peso is due to statements made by Donald Trump, but assures that the USMCA is not at risk.

The Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, commented on Tuesday that the depreciation of the Mexican peso is due to the protectionist statements of Donald Trump, the U.S. Republican candidate. However, she assured that the Treaty between Mexico, the United States, and Canada (T-MEC) is not in danger.

According to Sheinbaum, the fluctuations in the Mexican currency are a result of the uncertainty generated by Trump's statements, but she clarified that the Mexican government is attentive to the situation to avoid greater problems.

"It is important to closely monitor the evolution of this situation and take the necessary measures to maintain economic stability in the country," stated Sheinbaum during a press conference in Mexico City.
