According to the Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office (Profeco), a significant difference in fuel prices has been identified in Mexico. As of October 17, the average price per liter of regular gasoline was 23.90 pesos, premium gasoline was 25.27 pesos, and diesel was 25.48 pesos. For this week, a fiscal incentive of 4.3% is expected only for regular gasoline, which would mean that the State would absorb a little more than one peso per liter of this fuel.
In the price analysis by regions, it was found that the gas stations with the highest prices were located in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Apodaca, Nuevo León, and Cancún, Quintana Roo. On the other hand, the lowest prices were recorded in Tlanepantla, State of Mexico, and Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. Regarding LP gas, it was identified that prices remained below international standards and varied in different regions of the country.
On the other hand, Profeco reported the prices of a basket of 24 basic products, considering establishments in different areas of Mexico. It was observed that the total of this basket was below the 1,039 pesos estimated by the National Consumer Price Index, with a notable difference of 226 pesos between the most expensive and the cheapest baskets.
In presenting this data, the head of Profeco mentioned that prices are monitored in nearly 1,800 establishments across the country, and these remained stable in relation to the National Consumer Price Index. The highest prices for the basket were identified in Campeche, Hermosillo, Durango, and León, while the lowest prices were found in Tampico, Acapulco, Morelia, and Cuernavaca, based on a sampling conducted from October 7 to 11.
