CNH Approves $1.8 Billion Investment for Pemex and Eni

The National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) approved in an extraordinary session the investment of 1.8 billion dollars that Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and Eni México will make in three oil projects in the regions of Tabasco, Veracruz, and Campeche during 2025.

"These are formidable amounts of investment, but the resources we have justify it," expressed Agustín Díaz Lastra, commissioner president of the CNH. "This investment will be allocated for drilling and the construction of surface facilities, some of which will remain useful for other wells later on."

The investment amount is divided into three programs. The first to be approved was presented by Pemex Exploration and Production, located in shallow waters off the coasts of Tabasco and Veracruz in the oil province of Southeastern Basins, with an investment of 287.3 million dollars.

Subsequently, a project from Pemex that requires additional resources was approved. This extraction development plan is located in shallow waters off the coast of Campeche and needs 788.5 million dollars.

Regarding Eni México, the CNH approved an investment of 716.8 million dollars for a project that will be executed in the territorial waters of the Gulf of Mexico, off the state of Tabasco, covering the fields Amoca, Tecoalli, and Miztón.

Francisco Castellanos Páez, researcher from the technical unit of extraction and its supervision, mentioned that Pemex's program requires the mentioned amount of resources due to postponed investments and advances of resources expected for 2026.

Baldemar Hernández, commissioner of the CNH, emphasized the importance of these investments for oil development, congratulating ENI for its contribution, reflecting the presence of private initiative combined with Pemex's investments, for the benefit of the people of Mexico.
