In August, the construction sector in Nuevo León maintained stable performance compared to July, reporting a production value from companies in the segment of six thousand 420 million pesos (mdp). This value remained unchanged in constant pesos compared to the previous month. However, compared to August of last year, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) reported that the sector experienced a 23.34% increase, mainly driven by the public sector.
The state of Nuevo León retained its national leadership by contributing 11.1% to the total construction value at the national level. Although this contribution was slightly lower than in July, when it reached 11.2%. Sector analysts highlighted that the completion of works at the Dos Bocas refinery in Tabasco and the reduction of activity in the Maya Train in the southeast of the country allowed Nuevo León to regain its position as a national leader in construction.
In August, the public sector showed a remarkable recovery by developing projects worth 722.63 mdp, representing a 60.29% increase compared to the same month last year and a 31.57% increase compared to the previous month. According to an analyst, state government investments in mobility, particularly in various Metro lines, led to this significant investment, the highest since November 2020.
On the other hand, the private sector had negative performance compared to July, showing a drop of 2.94% in the value of its projects, decreasing from five thousand 871 mdp to five thousand 698 mdp between the two months. In annual terms, the public sector had an increase of 60.29%, while the private sector experienced a rise of 19.84%, with both maintaining a positive trend compared to July.
Regarding segments, Construction remained the most important in the sector, developing projects worth three thousand 400 mdp. This represented a monthly increase of 1.82% and an annual increase of 34.39%, contributing 53% of the total value generated in the entity.
