The State Water Commission (CEA) plans to allocate nearly 65 million pesos for the rehabilitation of two wastewater treatment plants in the municipalities of Jalpan de Serra and Tolimán. This was announced by the executive member of the agency, Luis Alberto Vega Ricoy.
An investment of around 45 million pesos is estimated for the treatment plant in Jalpan and approximately 20 million pesos for the one in Tolimán. The intention is to use the treated water from these plants for agricultural activities, as informed by Vega Ricoy.
Additionally, there are plans to intervene in a third plant in Peñamiller, although the necessary investment for this project has not yet been determined. During the first half of the administration, a treatment plant in Amealco was expanded with an investment of 80 million pesos, as well as in San Joaquín with about 15 million.
Vega Ricoy also mentioned the ongoing rehabilitation of the South treatment plant in Corregidora, which will require a final investment of approximately 500 million pesos. This plant, along with the one in San Pedro Mártir, will be part of the "Batán, Water for All" project, which aims to add 1,500 liters per second to the drinking water network of the Metropolitan Area.
In another aspect, progress has been made to renew a cooperation agreement with the National Water Commission (Conagua) in a previous meeting. This agreement expired with the conclusion of the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador. An additional meeting with Conagua and representatives from the 18 municipalities has been scheduled to address the needs for water infrastructure.
"We are going to discuss needs and how tripartite investments between the municipality, state, and federation can be managed," concluded Vega Ricoy.
