Various taxpayers reported that their advanced electronic signatures (FIEL) from the Tax Administration Service (SAT) of Mexico were revoked without apparent reason. Affected users noticed that their electronic certificates, essential for various tax and administrative procedures, appeared as "revoked or expired" with a specific date: October 23, 2024, at 12:00 pm.
This problem occurred broadly, with several taxpayers coinciding in the revocation of their electronic signatures. The situation caused confusion and concern, as the e-signature is key for carrying out procedures before the SAT, IMSS, and Infonavit, as well as fulfilling tax and commercial obligations in Mexico.
Those affected followed different recommendations, such as taking screenshots of the error messages, attempting to access various SAT platforms to verify the status of the signature, and staying informed. It was even observed that the SAT's e-signature was also revoked, suggesting a large-scale failure in the agency's systems.
In response, the SAT acknowledged the error through an information card, assuring that the electronic signatures related to foreign trade were not affected and remained operational. It was anticipated that on the same day as the reports, the correct validity of the affected e-signatures would be restored so that taxpayers could use them without issues.
The SAT also clarified that those taxpayers whose signatures were temporarily modified would not need to carry out additional procedures, as the problem would be resolved automatically.
