Viva Aerobus Expands Flight Flexibility Options

The airline Viva Aerobus, led by Juan Carlos Zuazua, has decided to expand its seat offerings on domestic routes. This move is due to issues with the engines of its newer fleet. Despite these difficulties, the company has managed to stand out in the Mexican market as one of the most accessible, with average fares lower than its competitors. Viva Aerobus is expected to end the year 2024 with 90 aircraft in its fleet, of which at least a quarter will be leased to foreign companies under a wet lease.

The airline has maintained its solid finances thanks to this mechanism and the compensations received for the engine problems. Recently, Viva Aerobus has announced changes in the characteristics of its airline tickets, introducing new flexibility clauses that will allow passengers to make various actions, such as modifying the name on tickets, transferring them, selling them, among other functions.

At a press conference marking the 18th anniversary of the company, Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus, highlighted that they will continue to prioritize the customer and promote innovation within the company. Among the announced changes are 11 flexibility options, including the possibility to change or correct the name on tickets at no additional cost, as well as the option to resell purchased tickets.

Additionally, it will be possible to cancel a flight up to 24 hours after purchase, advance the flight, separate reservations from joint purchases, change flights, upgrade fares, and even purchase flights in case they are full. These new options are not yet fully available but will be gradually implemented for Viva Aerobus passengers.

With these actions, Viva Aerobus reaffirms its position as one of the leading airlines in Mexico, being the one that has mobilized the most domestic passengers so far in the year 2024.
