HSBC is experiencing service failures during the afternoon of Thursday, October 31, affecting its operations in both mobile banking and deposits. According to reports, about 79% of users have reported problems mainly in the mobile app.
In a statement released through its social media, HSBC stated: "We are working to restore it as soon as possible. We ask you to try again later." The interruptions began around 3:00 PM and persist after 6:30 PM, with users in cities such as Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Puebla, Merida, Chihuahua, and Tijuana reporting the most significant failures.
Despite these difficulties, HSBC's ATMs remain operational, allowing customers to withdraw money without issues. However, internet banking, the HSBC Mexico app, and HSBC Net are experiencing service interruptions, complicating the ability to make transfers.
On the other hand, users needing to make deposits have been affected, as the app does not allow them to complete these transactions. In response, HSBC has assured its customers that in collaboration with MultiRed, a network of banks with various partnerships, they can withdraw funds without fees at ATMs of affiliated institutions such as Inbursa, Banca Mifel, Scotiabank, BanBajío, and Banregio.
So far, Downdetector has recorded over a thousand reports in Mexico related to these banking service failures by HSBC. The entity has asked for its customers' understanding while working on a prompt solution to these problems.
