Website Crash for New Education Grant in Mexico

The government of Mexico has launched the new Universal Scholarship for Basic Education "Rita Cetina Gutiérrez" and has enabled the official website for secondary school students to register. However, the portal www.becaritacetina.gob.mx experienced a crash due to high user demand, leaving many families unable to complete the registration process at the desired time.

The scholarship offers 1,900 pesos bimonthly per family and an additional support of 700 pesos for each extra secondary student in the household, which has generated great interest among families across the country. It is expected that once user traffic decreases, the website will return to normal operation.

The site crash was due to the server being unable to process requests due to overload, causing a 500 Error. This error also affected the general website for Welfare Programs. The 500 Error is common when a large number of users try to access an online platform simultaneously, creating server congestion.

The Rita Cetina Scholarship is initially aimed at secondary school students in public schools and it is expected that, in future phases, it will expand to preschool and primary levels. The registration process will be divided into two phases: informational assemblies in secondary schools from October 14 to November 29 and online registration open from November 11 to December 18.

In light of the frustration caused by the website interruption, interested parties are advised to try accessing during off-peak hours, use alternative browsers, clear cache and cookies from the browser, reload the page, and check official networks for updates. To complete the registration, parents or guardians must have the necessary documents in digital format on hand.

Authorities have assured that the online registration period will remain open until December 18, allowing all interested families to complete the process without haste.
