In November, there are still some holidays left to enjoy before the year ends. According to Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law, in 2024 there are nine mandatory rest days, and two are yet to come. These days are New Year's Day, Constitution Day, Benito Juárez's birthday, Labor Day, Election Day, Independence Day Anniversary, Federal Executive Power Transmission, Mexican Revolution Day, and Christmas.
If workers have to work on holidays, the LFT establishes that they have the right to receive double pay for the services rendered. Mexico is one of the countries with the fewest holidays per year and does not have any days off in months like April, June, or July.
The 2023-2024 school calendar of the Secretary of Public Education also includes rest days for students. In addition to the aforementioned holidays, it includes long weekends and official vacations for teachers and students. Regarding long weekends and school vacations, rest periods are established, such as the long weekend from March 25 to April 5, vacations from July 22 to August 28, and vacations from December 18 to January 6, 2025.
